The Peacock House
If you have followed me on instagram, you may have seen mentions of the “Peacock House” project that we completed back in the olden days of the pandemic. What a fun time to be renovating a home! This antebellum era farmhouse was a dream to remodel. Upon entering it the first time, we were greeted with a walnut banister and peacock themed wallpaper. To the disdain of the guys, I said “that has to stay!” But, in the midst of demoing out the failing drywall and ripping up the shag carpet, they did indeed save it for me; the paper became the home’s namesake. We stripped paint from each baluster of the walnut railing and by the end of the project, the staircase was the loveliest little nod to a bygone era of the home. We saved tongue and groove flooring from the home and nailed it up on the ceiling. I scored a final sale light from Crate and Barrel to give the final touches to the entry that layered in a “welcome home!” feeling.
